Feeling overwhelmed with all the energy efficiency details and new building codes?

No need to worry, we are here to help!  Once you have decided on a design and have considered form and solar shading options there are a few categories to investigate further. The building should function as a system, and it is important that these categories are completed in the following order.

#1 – Envelope First – Your building envelope will outlive any mechanical system if done right. A good building envelope can reduce the size of your mechanical equipment, lower operating costs, and increase the comfort in your building.

#2 – Airtightness – A well sealed home is particularly important to the energy efficiency of the building. It is also greatly beneficial to the occupants because the whole house ventilation system is properly sized, installed to maintain a balanced air pressure inside the building, and maintained to provide filtered air 24/7.

#3 – Mechanical Equipment – Most importantly you need to make sure your equipment is sized properly to eliminate short cycling, increased energy bills, and additional maintenance. This can be accomplished by completing a room by room heat loss/ heat gain calculation also known as an F280 report.
